Education - Schools & Learning
Millions of years worth!
Welcome to... Jurassic Discovery!
Step back in time with your students and uncover the fascinating world of the dinosaurs! Jurassic Discovery’s brand-new Education Programme is designed to inspire curiosity, spark imagination, and bring learning to life in a fun, hands-on environment.
Our interactive workshops are linked to the National Curriculum and tailored for different age groups, from Early Years through to Key Stage 2. Led by our experienced Education Team, each session combines exciting activities, real fossil exploration, and our incredible animatronic exhibition, The Last Day of the Dinosaurs.
Schools, home educators, or clubs can visit Jurassic Discovery for an unforgettable learning experience on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site
Why book a school visit to Jurassic Discovery?
Located on the stunning Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, within minutes of the beach and right next door to the delightful Seaton Tramway, Jurassic Discovery is a unique attraction, with its fabulous animatronic dinosaur exhibition, Fossil Room, Jurassic Garden, soft-play centre, Dino Dig and popular café.
Our school visit programme, delivered by our experienced Learning team, offers a fun, exciting and informative day out. Developed in association with Exeter University and schools, and in line with National Curriculum topics, our taught workshops are perfect for EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
Pupils will be entranced to see our life-sized dinosaurs in their natural habitat settings, and will have the opportunity to explore our Fossil Room with its extensive collection of fossils from around the world. They will have fun exploring the prehistoric planting in the Jurassic Garden, getting dirty in the ‘Dino Dig’ sand pit and having a giggle as they complete our dino ‘Poo Trail’!

Plan Your School Visit
Schools are invited to design their own itineraries, choosing from a menu of 45 to 60-minute workshops and self-guided activities, and for whole day visits there is also the option of a soft-play session or a tram ride to Colyton. As far as possible we will tailor the day to suit your school’s specific needs, to ensure that your day out is not only fun and exciting, but is meeting your teaching and learning requirements too.
We’ve made the booking process easy, taking the pressure off for busy teachers! Just decide whether you want a half-day (maximum 2 workshops) or full-day visit (maximum 3 workshops plus option of soft-play or tram ride), read through the workshop menu below, then complete the ‘Educational Visits Enquiry Form’, giving us as many date options as possible. A member of our team will then get back to you to discuss your visit and confirm your booking.
If you would like to talk to a member of our team about planning a visit, you can contact us on 01297 20375 opt 2, or alternatively please read through our FAQ’s.

If your itinerary includes a tram ride, please be aware that we run both open-topped double-deckers and enclosed saloon trams, which means that you may travel on a tram that is open to the elements. Please ensure that your pupils are dressed appropriately, with a mac for wet weather and a sun hat for sunny days.
Lunchtime facilities
For full-day visits, lunch will be eaten in the covered seating area in the Jurassic Garden or in the Education Room. For half-day visits, you are welcome to stay for lunch, but please arrange this at point of booking.
